EThe purpose of Foundations of English II is to help students focus on improving the reading, writing, speaking, language, grammar, and research skills that will be necessary for academic success in English II and on the NC English II End of Course Exam. All course objectives align with Common Core State Standards for English Grade 10. As in English II, students will read, analyze, and respond to world literature. Homework/Classwork
Research shows that homework in not always effective in learning. Therefore, students will only be assigned work to do at home when it has not been completed in class. If it is not turned in the following school day, students will receive a zero for that day's work.
Attendance Policy
It is important to come to class every day. More than 10 absences will result in a failing grade. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain, complete, and turn-in missing work by the end of the week. Check the absence folders for all assignments.
HUHS Tardy Policy
It is important to be on time and prepared for class. If you are late to class for whatever reason, you must get a tardy pass from the nearest tardy station. If you are not in your assigned seat at the bell, you will also be marked tardy. See the Student Handbook for Tardy Consequences.
Failure is not an Option!
If you do not master a class objective, you will complete remediation work and re-test. If you master class objectives, you will complete extension projects that will challenge your learning!
